We (Diane and Alison) are sisters originally from London who set up a pottery painting studio on North Hill, Colchester in October 2023. We did this in honour of our mum Jean, who died of cancer in 2019. Jean was passionate about crafting and we know she would be very proud of our small, family run business.
Diane moved to the Colchester area in 1999 and started a career in schools and children’s safeguarding. Alison followed a few years later to become a zoo keeper in Colchester zoo. After years of enjoying pottery painting as a relaxing hobby we took the plunge and went out on our own. Weeks of hard work converting the dark, black painted shop into a bright, colourful and cheerful studio was worth it.

Up to 20 people. Exclusive use during opening hours or out of hours. £50 hire fee, payable at the time of booking.
Larger groups and Children’s Parties – Let us bring the party to you. Ideal for children’s birthday parties. Either at home or in a hall. We will bring ceramics, paints, brushes, palettes and water pots for you to paint for an hour or two. We will then collect everything and bring it back to the shop for glazing and firing. This will give you time to enjoy the rest of your celebration getting down to the serious business of dancing, singing and partying. We will give you a call when everything is ready for you to collect from the shop.
We have a later session 3.30pm – 5.30pm on Thursday evenings.
Thursday evening 6pm til 8pm. Come and enjoy painting without the children.

Your session is for 2 hours. Some people take less and some take
more. If at the end of 2 hours you are not finished, we can either
offer more time or book another session on another day, but we
can usually give you a bit longer to finish.
Yes we sell hot(teas, hot chocolate, coffee, latte, cappuccino) and
cold (squash, coke, 7up, diet coke, Tango & fruit shoot) drinks and
have crisps and some chocolate bars

You only pay for what you paint. There are no studio or
firing/glazing fees.
We glaze and fire your items in shop, so we say 7 to 10 days on average.
I’m afraid not no.
Yes we take cash and card.
We prefer everyone to paint, but understand that small children need
to be supervised by their adult. Older children love it when their adults
join in with them.
No. The manufacturers of the bisque recommend hand-washing with hot soapy water only and not to use in the microwave or oven.
Yes. Sensible drinking only please.
We have a small step up and then down at the front door which is wide
enough for a wheelchair. However the toilet is not disabled friendly as
it has a very narrow door and large step up.
We recommend getting ideas from google or pinterest. We have stencils, sponges, paint pens and other equipment to help you with your
creations.
